The Archive of Time

A History Written in Stone

From an ancient homeland to a century deferred — the story of Palestine, told in seven chapters.

Pre-1948

An Ancient Homeland

Palestine has been a crossroads of civilisations for millennia — Canaanite, Philistine, Roman, Byzantine, Islamic and Ottoman — each layer woven into the stone, the olive groves and the embroidery of its people.

1948

The Nakba

The Catastrophe. Over 700,000 Palestinians were displaced from their homes and cities during the creation of the State of Israel. The keys to those homes are still kept, generation after generation.

1967

The Occupation

In the Six-Day War, Israel occupied the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip, redrawing the daily reality of millions and beginning a decades-long military administration.

1987

The First Intifada

A grassroots uprising of a generation born under occupation — marked by mass protests, strikes and the enduring symbol of the keffiyeh.

1993

The Oslo Accords

The signing of the Oslo Accords established the Palestinian Authority and raised hopes of a negotiated two-state solution — hopes that would remain largely unfulfilled.

2005–2007

The Siege of Gaza

Israel withdrew settlers from Gaza in 2005, then imposed a comprehensive land, air and sea blockade from 2007, isolating over two million people.

2023–Present

A Reckoning

A devastating war on Gaza brought unprecedented destruction and a global surge of solidarity — reawakening the world to a question a century deferred: the freedom of Palestine.
